I admittedly only saw the movie-- though the book was recommended to me long before the movie came out-- but I'm sure the book's amazing. The movie was breathtaking, as well. I don't know whether it did the book justice, but it was an excellent movie, to say the least.
The ending of this book was so amazing and shocking...I was left speechless....when people take the ending so literally, and skip over the meaning and just say "Wow the tiger left, how dumb" it makes me want to hit them with a big chunk of understanding.
This illustration is so great. I love the red waters of the ocean, and how big and hulking the tiger looks. Sometimes you forget how huge those things are. The emaciated look of Piscine is a nice touch too. It is hard for me to remember the state he was in sometimes. Simply because so much went on. Or...so much "didn't" go on.
#TheIllustratedWord would really love to see this piece in our group. We focus on illustrations of literature, poetry, short stories, etc. If you don't like your work to be showcased in groups, we understand. We've sent a request; you should see it in your messages.
I never finished this book, for whatever reason I just couldn't get into it and thus never got through it. It has such great critiques everywhere though that I am determined to one day pick it back up, start from the beginning and give it another go. I see the author has a new novel out too now.
